Our report assesses the economic impact of Colston Hall on the Bristol, South West and wider UK economy.
Bristol Music Trust plans to undertake a major transformation programme
to upgrade the facilities at Colston Hall with the aim of making it one of the
most comprehensive and attractive music facilities in the country.
In order to understand the potential economic impact this transformation programme could deliver, Bristol Music Trust commissioned KPMG to conduct an analysis of Colston Hall’s current economic contribution to the local Bristol, South West and wider UK economy and to assess the potential contribution after completion of the proposed works.
Our analysis assessed the economic impact in terms of employment and gross value added (GVA) – a measure of the value of goods and services generated as a result of Colston Hall’s activities. These were estimated in direct, indirect and induced terms. The wider economic impacts arising from attendees’, artists’ and support staff’s spending in the local economy were also captured in the study.
