Kirsty jointly leads the London National Markets transfer pricing team. Kirsty has been with KPMG's Transfer Pricing group for over 10 years and advises clients on all aspects of the UK transfer pricing legislation, including devising, documenting, and implementing transfer pricing strategies. Kirsty is a core member of the UK's Patent Box team and has published a number of articles on IP planning litigation strategies and Cloud Computing.
Prior to joining KPMG, Kirsty gained significant experience working in industry. This background means that Kirsty is able to provide advice to clients on both a technical and commercial level. This is particularly important when dealing with transfer pricing engagements that combine tax technical aspects with practical matters such as cost and time of implementation and commercial realities.
Kirsty has participated in a number of secondments to industry, particularly in the technology, media and telecommunications sector, and abroad to Canada. She has therefore built up a range of experience advising multinationals sector both on OECD and non-OECD transfer pricing and tax efficient operating models.
Kirsty’s current projects include US and OECD documentation; brand valuations and content licensing; helping with the development of a profit split method; putting in place a procedure for calculating management charges on an annual basis for services provided by head office and regional service centres; and advising on the consequences of moving of activities and functions from local entities to a central service centre.
Kirsty routinely works on projects that involve implementing transfer pricing strategies that take into consideration tax efficient opportunities and the movement of intellectual property. As such, Kirsty knows how to develop practical solutions that mitigate risk of transfer pricing challenges.
Kirsty also has funding and thin capitalisation experience. She has led many of KPMG’s successful ATCAs with HMRC and has extensive experience of negotiating a mutually agreeable position.
