Bill Packman

Partner, Wealth Management

KPMG in the UK

Bill joined KPMG in 2018 from Nutmeg where as both COO and Head of Risk & Compliance. He was responsible for aspects of middle and back office encompassing: trading, custody, settlement, payments, reconciliation as well as customer service. Latterly he had also been responsible for building out the Risk & Compliance function, ensuring there was a clear risk appetite and dealing with the regulator on many of the ground breaking topics faced by online discretionary wealth managers. Through his expertise in both these areas, Bill helped with fundraising and structuring and set up of joint ventures with the business’s Asian investors.

Prior to Nutmeg Bill spent 15 years managing group-wide transformation programs at Barclays in the UK and Westpac in Australia. Whilst often driven by regulatory change, these typically spanned strategy, operations, technology and people change. At Westpac he was responsible for the entire program of Strategic Reform totalling £100m per annum, primarily relating to their Wealth Management business but reaching across all aspects of retail, corporate and institutional banking.

Bill is a strong advocate of the need and opportunity for change within the Wealth Management sector and sees an exciting period emerging over the next few years as the stimulus of FinTech innovation, the transition of the establish players and the rise of the retail investor mature concurrently.
