Umayr is a Telecoms Economist and a Regulatory Finance specialist. He has successfully supported clients in 50+ consulting engagements internationally across the UK, Europe, Middle East, Caribbean and Africa in the Telecoms and Technology sector.

Umayr joined KPMG in May 2018: prior to this he was an Assistant Director at Deloitte where he focused on regulatory, commercial and policy issues facing clients in the Telecoms and Technology sectors.

Umayr’s 15+ years of experience in the Telecoms sector includes advising Telcos, policy makers and regulators on various regulatory and strategic issues including Telecoms policy, Telecoms supply chain and market reviews, 5G strategy, customer profitability, product pricing, economic regulation, regulatory cost modelling, regulatory and commercial cost allocation reviews, accounting separation, bottom up cost modelling, cost of capital assessments, Telecoms regulatory audits, and economic impact assessments.

Umayr has advised some of the largest telcos in the world in a number of countries including UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and South Africa. Umayr also supported a leading western Government in its seminal Telecoms supply chain review assessments. Umayr has also carried out multiple Economic Impact assessments for Telecoms operators and Big Tech players.
