Gavin leads the KPMG’s M&A Restructuring Tax Group where he specialises in M&A tax, corporation tax planning, structuring and due diligence. He works with business facing operational, financial or reputational challenges.
As part of his role, Gavin also provides advice on group reorganisations, debt restructurings and debt equity swaps, corporate rescue and insolvency and turnaround work, including CVAs.
Throughout his career, Gavin has advised on many distressed M&A and insolvency transactions ranging from mid-market companies to large multinational groups. These engagements have included a number of high profile insolvencies or distressed M&A transactions.
Gavin also has strong expertise in treasury tax. He has been leading KPMG’s work with large business in the UK on the impact of the new corporate interest restriction rules and CT reform.
Gavin was a member of the HMRC working groups on modernising corporate debt tax rules. In particular, he was involved with the introduction of a new “corporate rescue” relief for debt releases of borrowers in significant financial distress.
