Gavin leads the KPMG's M&A Restructuring Tax Group where he specialises in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) tax, corporation tax planning, structuring and due dilligence with business facing operational, financial or reputational challenges.
As part of his role, Gavin provides tax advice on group reorganisations, debt restructurings and debt equity swaps, corporate rescue and insolvency and turnaround work, including Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVAs) and other Companies Act Scheme.
Gavin was a member of the Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) working groups on modernising corporate debt tax rules, in particular, the introduction of a new "corporate rescue" relief for debt releases of borrowers in significant financial distress.
Gavin has worked with a wide range of multi-national entities involved in many different industry sectors.
In recent years Gavin's major clients have been in the retail, infrastructure, property and healthcare industries.
