KPMG in the UK

Scott has 16 years of restructuring, transaction, treasury and assurance experience in Big 4 accounting practice complemented with 3 years commercial and financial accounting experience in industry. He was appointed UK Head of sales & business development in KPMG restructuring in 2018 following 8 years in the Scottish restructuring practice.

As a restructuring professional he has led teams in a wide range of operational and financial restructuring projects across all areas of the market from independent owner manager concerns to multi-national corporations. Significant assignments where Scott has led key work streams include Monarch Airlines, First Oil Private Limited Company (PLC) and Project Gander (South Africa).

His restructuring experience is almost exclusively non-insolvency advisory work, specialising in cash & working capital improvement, cost reduction, profitability enhancement, stakeholder management and accelerated Mergers and Accquisitions (M&A).

Scott was also the Oil & Gas Sector leader for restructuring between 2014 and 2019 and has advised on many oilfield service restructuring projects across the UK, Norway and North America as well as the sale of the portfolio of an independent UK E&P business through administration.

During his time with KPMG he has also undertaken a secondment to the Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank, covering the role of a Director in the Group Strategic Business Services (”Group SBS”) team, reporting into National Australia Bank.

Prior to joining KPMG he gained 6 years’ experience in the assurance and risk practice of another Big 4 firm and 3 years in industry as a financial controller, firstly with Spirit AeroSystems (Europe) Ltd, the UK subsidiary of a US listed global aerospace group and secondly with Picsel Technologies Ltd, a PE-backed global software group.
