KPMG in the UK

Thomas joined KPMG in 2004 and he leads our cyber risk team within our North National Markets practice. His experience includes:

  • Led the evaluation of options and development of the strategy for the future of the UK payments industry.
  • Directed a strategic review of the current domestic payments scheme arrangements to consider the benefits and drawbacks of simplification.
  • Led a payment card industry-data security standard (PCI-DSS) compliance engagement for a major logistics business.
  • Managed a strategic assessment of key risks and solutions, which could facilitate faster deposit pay-out and banking continuity in the event of failure of a large UK retail deposit-taking institution.
  • Led a review of the Russian cards market to highlight the regulatory, legal and accountancy considerations and the market opportunity.
  • Development of a 10 year roadmap for the future of collaborative investment in the payment industry.
  • Oversaw the review of the controls operated by a major card payments processor.
  • Part of worldwide team which reviewed the payment processing and systems risk of two major UK retail banks, including high value or volume payment technology and operations.
  • Creation of the payments and online corporate banking strategy for a major UK bank and the creation of a benefits roadmap to achieve the required changes. Thomas led a significant element of this programme.
  • Head of Operations Support for KPMG’s managed service business, K-CRC. Thomas led a team responsible for the development of management information, recruitment, training, risk management and change. His team supported over 300 users across the UK and India, who were investigating complaints for 500,000 customers on behalf of a major UK financial institution.
  • Leading and managing a number of internal and external audit engagement, controls assurance for outsourced business operations and due diligence assessments for potential transactions.
