Director – Software Asset Management and License Management

KPMG in the UK

Simon is a Director with KPMG in the UK and has worked across industries and geographies, leading projects and teams in the UK and EMEA.

Simon is a Director with over 15 years of experience in IT asset management, software sourcing and procurement, and Software/IT audit. He leads KPMG’s IT Asset Management (“ITAM”) Center of Excellence in the UK, a role which includes leadership of our EMEA Alliance with Flexera for technology asset management, and leadership of our UK based ServiceNow ITAM Practice.

Simon is responsible for developing a range of market leading tools and solutions, alongside their supporting materials: these include our ITAM Maturity Assessment, our SAM Services Portal (SAM Navigator), and our Software/Hardware inventory and analysis tools. Over his career to date Simon has helped tens of clients implement large, complex, ITAM programs (including those that deal with complex issues relating to mergers and acquisitions and the bifurcation and/or novation of software licenses), delivered hundreds of licensing assessments and maturity reviews, and prepared hundreds of licence reconciliations across a range of software vendors (including Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, SAP, Broadcom, HCL, Microfocus, TIBCO, and MicroStrategy). He led the KPMG UK program of IBM software audits between 2011 and 2016 and continues to support our broader delivery of IBM compliance and advisory services in coordination with his wider responsibilities for tooling and service quality.

Simon has a particular interest in best practice ITAM processes and has a seat on Working Group 21 which develops the ISO/IEC 19770 standard on IT asset management. He is experienced in assessing the maturity of existing ITAM and SAM programs and in designing implementing appropriate ITAM and SAM operating models. Simon helps KPMG’s clients extract full value from their software assets by achieving cost savings and ensuring risk reduction.
