Annual Review 2020

Supporting the UK in a connected world

In 2020, we marked 150 years of KPMG in the UK. It was a chance to look back at some of the pivotal moments in our history and understand how they have shaped the firm today.

We know now that 2020 will be remembered as one of those pivotal moments in our firm's – and the UK's – history. The global pandemic has changed how we live and work. It has created immense challenges for businesses and governments around the globe. And it has accelerated transformation in every aspect of our lives.

Our firm has been resilient. The hard decisions we have taken in recent years made sure of that. And our investments in talent and technology have set out an exciting course for the year ahead. We are connecting and collaborating as we never have before.

Over the past year, the people at our firm have come together. They have been brave, compassionate and innovative. They have delivered high-quality work, even in the face of real personal pressure. And they have continued to support each other, our clients and our communities when they have needed us most.

Read on to discover some of the remarkable work our people have done. Their stories demonstrate how we are supporting the UK in a connected world.

A view from the frontline

Jack and Lindsey

Our new Audit Evolution Board joins up auditors 'on the ground' with the firm's Audit leadership. It's just one of the ways we're working to improve audit quality and develop a culture of challenge within our Audit practice. The ten members of our Audit Evolution Board aren't afraid to ask the difficult questions: it's their job to. Meeting once a month, the group tackles questions like audit quality, diversity and inclusion, and professional scepticism – sharing their views with leaders in the firm.
