This is a time of extraordinary change and upheaval – for our business, our sector, our clients and broader society. It’s also a time of reflection for our firm: on our purpose, how we operate and how we prepare for a very different future.
Addressing the challenges ahead requires courage, focus and significant resources. That’s why this year has been one of investment: in our people, our processes, and in the technology we need to deliver new kinds of solutions for clients. These investments are reshaping our firm and the way we work.
On this site, you can hear from some of our people as they tell the story of our year. In their own words, they describe the great work they’re doing for our clients and communities. And they show how we’re building a sustainable business.
When I look at all that we’ve achieved, I feel incredibly proud of the thousands of people who come to work at KPMG every day. We build this firm together, and the work we’ve done this year has set us up well for the future.
In our transparency report, you can read about our relentless focus on audit quality. This includes unprecedented investment in audit transformation, a record number of hires in our audit practice and changes to our governance structure. Our pay gap report reinforces our commitment to an inclusive workplace and diversity of teams. The report sets out where we’re taking action and describes the progress we’ve made.
We’ll be marking 150 years of KPMG in the UK in 2020. That’s 150 years of our people – starting with Sir William Barclay Peat – supporting the UK and helping it grow. What we’ve achieved in 2019 is just one part of that story.
