Before joining KPMG Law, Lawrence practiced for 18 years as a foreign attorney with another Big Four-affiliated law firm in Taiwan. In such capacity, he led multidisciplinary legal, audit, financial advisory, and tax teams to assist Taiwanese multinational companies on their international mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and regulatory compliance projects. He also provided consulting, trade negotiation and global franchise services to corporation and financial institutions. Further, Lawrence handled both international arbitration and litigation disputes in Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe and the U.S. and provided integrated solutions covering U.S. taxation, taxation of transnational restructuring investment and legal consultancy to multinational companies. In his securities practice, Lawrence had advised more than 20 foreign companies as issuer or underwriter counsel for their initial public offering or secondary offerings on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and Taipei Exchange.
Lawrence graduated with Honors from the University of California at Berkeley and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He is licensed as an attorney in California and is certified as CIPP/E by the IAPP. He is a native speaker and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese, and English.
