Joanne received her baccalaureate as Bachelor of Public Finance from National Chengchi University, and then a master’s degree as Master of Public Finance from National Taipei University. She worked at the Department of International Fiscal Affairs, Ministry of Finance, ROC.

Joanne Liao is a tax Partner of KPMG in Taiwan and has extensive professional experience. She has been involved in service-oriented areas such as: domestic and international tax advisory services, including corporate investment structuring services, tax planning assessment and tax treaty advisory services.

Joanne received her baccalaureate as Bachelor of Public Finance from National Chengchi University, and then a master’s degree as Master of Public Finance from National Taipei University. She worked at the Department of International Fiscal Affairs, Ministry of Finance, ROC. 

 

Professional Service Experience

·       Joanne joined KPMG in 2012 providing outbound and inbound tax and investment consulting services for both domestic and multinational groups, and some of her duties included assisting companies with tax ruling applications and investment planning and structuring.

·       In addition to corporate tax advisory experience, she was responsible for negotiating tax treaty agreements as well as competent authority agreements, reviewing exchange of information (EOI), mutual agreement procedures (MAPs), etc.

·       Joanne has years of experience assisting companies in identifying tax saving opportunities, assessing tax risk profiles, and reducing tax burdens through tax treaty and domestic tax concessions.

·       With her accumulated experience in this field, she serves as an instructor for KPMG in Taiwan and has given a variety of training lessons for business clients.

·       Joanne is frequently invited by tax authorities and foreign trade organizations to lecture at training and educational sessions.
