Job Description

KPMG Thailand is currently seeking to develop and grow our Insurance advisory business line. Currently we have a small team supporting our audit clients and performing a number of other actuarial assignments, supported by our regional actuarial team in ASEAN.  The actuarial service comprises three practice areas specializing in life insurance, pensions and general insurance and the position will report directly to the expat Head of Actuarial Consulting. The Finance & Risk Management practice currently comprises of (approximately) 50+ local and expatriate professional staff, including Actuarial, Finance, and Risk Management professionals focusing, primarily, on the banking sector, but looking to maximize synergies across the risk measurement spectrum within the context of Financial Institutions. Our client base includes major US and European insurers as well as large local firms.


  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team on advisory projects; projects such as Risk Based Capital (RBC) framework/model reviews, IFRS 4/17 implementations, actuarial due diligence, actuarial valuations, business strategy reviews 
  • Provide specialist Actuarial oversight to support Audit of Insurance financial statements 
  • Help build and maintain relationships with non-audit Insurance entities
  • Establish a confident cooperative relationship with OIC
  • Establish and maintain solid relationship with clients and deliver engagements supervising the local actuarial team and engaging with regional team when required.
  • Mentoring and training of the actuarial team members

Qualifications and skills

  • Qualified FIA, FIAA or FSA with 5+ years’ experience with some or all of that in a consulting firm.
  • Ideally experience successfully leading business development, proposal development and supervising engagement delivery.
  • Strong technical knowledge of actuarial reporting and valuation, including NPV, GPV, EV, EEV, MCEV, etc
  • Experience with some or all of economic capital modeling, USGAAP/IFRS reserving, risk based capital and risk measurement and management, cash flow etc.
  • Ability to work in and adapt to a multicultural environment with strong communication skills – must be able to communicate effectively with actuaries and non-actuaries both inside and outside the firm.
  • Able to question the use of technical actuarial judgment and question clients in an appropriate manner.
  • Full proficiency in English language.
