Introduction and basic requirements
13 March 2018, 8:30AM - 12:30PM, CET
New legislation unifies principles and requirements on data protection in environment of European Union (General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR).
Even though existing Slovak legislation already covers several requirements included in GDPR, compliance with current legislation does not have to automatically mean compliance with new legal state.
One of the key aspects of new amendment is significant shift in ensuring of compliance with legislation. GDPR imposes on companies their clear obligation to actively prove the compliance with legal requirements. This is what significantly increases demands on documentation of personal data processing in company and actions taken to ensure compliance.
Besides content changes in definitions, e.g. in area of legal base for personal data processing, legislation brings new terms and requirements. These requirements include for example right for portability of personal data or duty to report breach of Data protection to Office for Personal Data Protection within three days from detection of the breach.
New requirements are fully effective from 25 May 2018.
