Online platform is a groundbreaking business model innovation for Kuehne + Nagel, changing the way logistics is being carried out by the company
KPMG Digital Village announced today that it has worked with Kuehne + Nagel, one of the world’s leading logistics companies, to launch etrucKNow, a single revolutionary platform that has been designed to seamlessly connect shippers and carriers to facilitate land trade. The online platform developed by KPMG Digital Village is a groundbreaking business model innovation for Kuehne + Nagel, which changes the way logistics is being carried out by the company.
With the etrucKNow platform, shippers just have to put in their job requirements and the platform will show them an immediate spot rate, and they will have the ability to instantly book a shipment. This will solve today’s industry problem of manual and often lengthy processes involved when requesting and finalising quotes.
For carriers, the platform will provide them with access to a huge number of shippers presenting new business opportunities. The job matching and bidding capabilities on the platform mean that carriers can quickly and easily fill empty or under-utilised trucks. The aim is to turn space within the trucks into revenue.
On the road, carriers and shippers have real-time visibility of the whereabouts of all shipments and the ability to track successful pick-ups and completed trips – this part of the journey is no longer a guessing game. The platform further creates a seamless and simplified way to connect, collaborate and partner the freight ecosystem players together like no other in the industry. As an added bonus, the fully digital solution does away with paper documentation and processing, allowing for easy upload and download of required documents.
etrucKNow will be piloted in Thailand before deployment in other markets. The platform came about when Kuehne + Nagel engaged KPMG Digital Village as their corporate innovation partner to bring their design thinking and technology development capabilities, as well as their freight ecosystem experience and expertise to develop a truly integrated platform.
Mr. Jan Reinmueller, Head of Digital Village & Innovation, KPMG in Singapore says, “We are delighted that Kuehne + Nagel has chosen KPMG Digital Village as their innovation partner to develop etrucKNow. The platform serves as the backbone for Kuehne + Nagel to enable, simplify and digitise overland trade, driving efficiency and productivity as well as making it easier for businesses to work with the company. This is yet another example of how KPMG Digital Village is helping corporates to innovate, transform their business model and drive top-line growth.”
Chellan Ganesan, Vice President of Overland for Kuehne + Nagel South Asia Pacific says, “Innovation is core to our business; we innovate not just to stay ahead of the curve but to keep our customers and partners ahead. Having listened to our customers’ needs, we appointed KPMG Digital Village to help us develop an easy-to-use AI-enabled web application for overland shipments in Asia. The etrucKNow platform is a further step in Kuehne + Nagel’s digital transformation journey. We are very excited to be able to shape the future of the overland business here in Asia.”
