PDPA webinar

As regulations and laws dealing with Privacy, Cyber Security and 3rd Party Risk start to converge, a more holistic approach is necessary to identify and safeguard sensitive data. With the need to continue operating in a global pandemic, organisations have embraced emerging technology, rapid digitalisation, and increased collaboration with third-parties. This puts unprecedented pressure on organisations to manage risks and to put in place measures to strengthen their personal data governance regime.

In view of the evolving risk landscape, the Personal Data Protection Commission (“PDPC”) has enhanced the Personal Data Protection Act of 2012 (“PDPA”). The key impacts of the revised PDPA will include:

  • Changes to enforcement powers provided to the PDPC, including increased penalties of up to 10% of annual turnover
  • Increased emphasis on the need for organisations to be accountable to the data that they hold
  • Recognising additional business processes needs to use Personal Data
  • Providing greater autonomy to personal data

Organisations are recommended to assess the impact of these requirements, which may include additional investment in people, enhancing processes and implementing technologies.

Join us at our webinar as we share insights on the following topics:

  • Key highlights and the potential impact on the enhancements to PDPA
  • Industry trends and practices in addressing the regulatory requirements and expectations
  • Updates to the Asia Pacific Region’s Privacy Scene
  • Dealing with Privacy in the time of COVID-19
