MADD is a dedicated community outreach initiative held in many KPMG member firms worldwide. KPMG in Singapore has upheld this proud annual tradition for 19 consecutive years, where departments within the firm dedicate a day to spend with beneficiaries of selected Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWO). On average, we contribute about 13,000 hours for MADD activities each year.
Our first KPMG Day was held on 8th June 2018, where the entire firm came together at a huge carnival in the name of sports, friendly competition, family fun and our community. Some teams held their MADD activities on that day as part of KPMG day. During the carnival, KPMG staff and their families participated in inter-function sporting events, while having the opportunity to mingle with our charity and social enterprise partners through carnival activities and hands-on workshop.
We contribute pro bono hours to support the Shared Services for Charities, a not-for-profit organization. By combining our skills and experience with a sense of purpose and values, we can realize our full potential as a firm and accomplish great things.
KPMG in Singapore celebrates a month of giving every November. Here is Giving Month 2020 at a glance:
Our staff volunteers donated and packed a total of 260 care packs for the migrant worker community to keep them safe amid the pandemic. With the support of It’s Raining Raincoats, the care packs were delivered to Rochester Common dormitory.
Deaf beneficiaries from Inclusive Employment Initiative, known collectively as The Silent Artisans, conducted their first virtual workshop for our employees. 120 scented candles and aromatherapy clay crafts made during the workshop were gifted to SPD Sheltered Workshop as Christmas gifts.
Together, we committed 240 hours on:
1. Supporting TOUCH Community Services’ Meals on Wheels programme in Ang Mo Kio, Jurong and Toa Payoh
2. Smart Phone Training for Seniors at TOUCH Community Services’ Senior Activity Centre
3. Packing and befriending activities alongside members of SPD Sheltered Workshop
Every KPMG in Singapore employee is encouraged to give back. In fact, each individual can take up to 40 hours of ‘Give Time’ leave each year to do community service. In this way, our people get to contribute their skills, time and efforts for causes that they are passionate about.
Over the years, KPMG in Singapore employees have travelled to various communities overseas such as Fiji, Mongolia and Myanmar to lend a helping hand to people in need as part of their ‘Give Time’ leave. In 2019, our full-time staff clocked in over 10,000 hours volunteering with a community of their choice, both within Singapore and internationally.
