KPMG and the Bolshoi Theatre have signed a cooperation agreement under which KPMG has become an official sponsor of the theatre, starting from its current 238th season.
"We are proud to be able to support Russian culture through one of the country's strongest brands. Although KPMG and the Bolshoi Theatre might appear to have little in common, we share common values: continuous honing of skills, development, loyalty to tradition while at the same looking to the future, and professionalism," said Oleg Goshchansky, Chairman and Managing Partner, KPMG in Russia and the CIS.
As an official sponsor of the Bolshoi, KPMG has gained the opportunity of contributing to the preservation of the theatre’s rich legacy for future generations. It is no accident that, in connection with our partnership with the Bolshoi, our advertising campaign centres around a small boy who is just beginning to learn about the world of opera and ballet.
Our first initiative as part of the partnership will be a joint project with Melodiya firm to release for the first time in digital format a series of restored recordings of major Bolshoi Theatre performances from 1945–1990. "As a new sponsor of the Bolshoi Theatre, we decided to give the theatre a present that, we hope, both the theatre's performers and lovers of music will appreciate. In autumn this year, a unique box set of 5 CDs of recordings of outstanding Bolshoi Theatre soloists will be released," said Oleg at the opening ceremony for the theatre's 238th season. "Perhaps the set might be called 'Legends of the Bolshoi': Vishnevskaya, Arkhipova, Obraztsova, Sinyavskaya, Kasrashvili, Lemeshev, Kozlovsky, Atlantov, Pirogov, Reizen, Nesterenko... in total, more than 30 legendary performers are featured."
