Galina joined KPMG in Moscow in 2021. She is a Partner at Tax and Legal. Before joining KPMG Galina had worked for an international audit and advisory firm for 18 years, for 11 years she had been head of department of tax protection for business, as a partner she was responsible for services related to prevention and resolution of tax disputes. During the years of practice the total sum of tax claims, successfully disputed by Galina, and taxes, returned to companies, exceeded USD2 bn.
Galina specializes in providing services related to resolution of tax disputes, including legal support of tax audits and pre-audit analysis, preparation of companies for tax audits, including TP audits, support in various tax control measures, including interrogations, inspections, attachments, etc. Galina also specializes in out-of-court tax dispute settlement and representing taxpayers’ interests in courts of all instances, in refund the overpayment, structuring of business and transactions, including the assessment of tax risks of planned transactions and business models, as well as in preparation of tax compliance.
Galina has extensive experience of working with companies from oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical industries, power sector, agribusiness, mining, food industry, aircraft industry, retail, construction, IT, pharmaceutical industry.
Galina Akchurina is a teacher of MBA programs at National Research University “Higher School of Economics”, specialization: Finance, module: Tax Law. She lectures on taxation issues at Statut Law School, and at IRSOT.
Galina is regularly among leading Russia’s lawyers according to international ratings. Best Lawyers 2022 rating included Galina into the list of Russia’s best lawyers in the nominations “Tax Law” and “Services for Oil and Gas Companies”, in 2021 Galina was recognized as the tax lawyer of the year.
