How did you find out about employment at KPMG? Why did you choose our firm?

I graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in the Faculty of Economic Relations with a degree in Audit, Accounting and Taxation.

After I finished university in June 1998, I began work in the Tax Department at KPMG as a second-year assistant, and before this I had worked for two years in a Russian audit firm. I hadn’t made any particular career plans or strategies when I was at the institute, since being a student should involve a somewhat different set of priorities. I had always been attracted to work in the specialization that I learned at MGIMO, and I had heard it said that a calm and utterly professional atmosphere reigned at KPMG. My choice was also affected by the fact that KPMG is an international standard-bearer in audit and consulting.

What has work at KPMG given you?

I have attended an enormous number of seminars and training sessions during my time at the firm, but the best training of all was and remains my everyday contact with my colleagues in the Tax Department and other professionals of the firm. The friendly yet professional atmosphere in our team allows each employee to constantly improve their knowledge and abilities. By the same token, the specialized training programs on taxation (Intermediate Tax Training), certain aspects of client relations (Communications Skills, Selling Skills, Writing Skills) and analysis of M&A operations (Transaction Services 3) have also made significant contributions to my arsenal of professional knowledge and skills.

To those who are only starting out on their career path, I would hope that you are able to appreciate and understand your field and your profession, and strive to achieve the best results in them.
