KPMG in Romania & Moldova is pleased to announce the appointment of eleven new Directors, in Audit, Tax & Legal, and Advisory. They are outstanding professionals who bring knowledge and valuable experience across all our service lines. Ovidiu Bianu, Cristian Postolea, Valentin Șerban, and Victor Voluța become Directors in Audit; Alexandru Chirigiu and Vlad Crăciun become Directors in Tax, while Marius Costea and Daniel Jinga become Associate Directors in Tax. In Advisory, Anamaria Ciobanu, Cristina Guțu and Simona Radu become Directors. 

New Directors in Audit

Ovidiu Bianu
Ovidiu Bianu graduated from the Economic and Business Administration Faculty in Timișoara and joined KPMG in 2013 as a manager in the Audit team in Cluj-Napoca. Before joining KPMG, he worked in other Big 4 firms, specializing in audit services. In total, he has 16 years of experience in auditing, and has worked with numerous clients from a wide range of industries such as IT, Manufacturing, Retail, Automotive and Oil & Gas. He has coordinated audit projects for Romanian companies, as well as for international groups operating in Romania. Ovidiu is an ASPAAS authorized financial auditor, and a member of ACCA, as well as of the Chamber of Financial Auditors in Romania (CAFR).

Cristian Postolea
Cristi has 13 years of experience in performing, planning, coordination and management of statutory, IFRS and US GAAP audit engagements as well as other attestation services for large local and international clients.

Cristi gained 2 years of international experience as a result of assignments to KPMG Calgary, Canada and to the UK (Guernsey, Channel Islands). His areas of expertise include Consumer Goods & Retail, Industrial Manufacturing and Oil & Gas. He is also a member of the Authority for Public Oversight of Statutory Audit Activity and of the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania, as well as a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in Great Britain.

Cristi is a genuine people person and he has been the Group Senior Manager since 2020. His working philosophy is focused on continuous development of his teams, open and transparent communication and creating a positive working environment.

Valentin Şerban

Valentin has more than 13 years of experience in KPMG, coordinating audit engagements in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) for financial institutions such as banks, non-banking financial institutions, investment funds and pension funds. Throughout his career in KPMG, he has seen banks transiting to IFRS, and audit engagements transiting to electronic tools. He has coached people to help them grow, while growing himself as a professional and building client relationships. As a manager he was also involved in the PFAR Exercise in Bulgaria, organized by the Bulgarian Financial Supervisory Authority, in cooperation with EIOPA, for the valuation of the assets of Pension Funds. He has been involved in delivering training courses to KPMG professionals on IFRS 9 Financial Instruments and audit methodology compliant with ISA. Valentin is a person who focuses on solutions, aiming to achieve the best possible outcome out of each situation.

Victor Voluța
Victor joined KPMG in September 2008 and has 13 years of relevant professional experience. He manages international and local clients, and has led the KPMG office in Moldova since September 2018.

His experience in Audit and Assurance services and also as an office manager has enabled him to develop a comprehensive understanding of the competitive and regulatory environments in Moldova. He has experience in the following lines of business: Consumer Goods, ENR, Retail, Telecom & IT, Automotive and Real Estate. Victor was the engagement manager during the first IPO of a Moldovan Group on the Romanian Stock Exchange.
Victor’s goals are to explore and create market opportunities; to further increase KPMG in Moldova’s visibility on the local market, consolidate the local team, develop the talent pool in Moldova, and focus on improvement of efficiency and quality.

New Directors in Tax

Alexandru Chirigiu
Alex decided to join the KPMG Audit team after a 5 month internship in 2006 and stayed for nearly 5 years. Following that, he spent 10+ years in finance management and consultancy. He then returned to his “home base”, rejoining KPMG in 2020 as a step forward in his career.
He is eager to contribute to the further development and accelerated growth of the Accounting team and to become an important player on the Romanian accounting market.

Marius Costea - Associate Director
Marius joined the Financial Services team of KPMG 15 years ago after working for seven years in accounting with Romanian privately owned companies. He continues to be part of this sector today as a well-known tax professional while also working on projects in energy, retail, real estate, betting and gaming etc. Marius has also contributed to the development of KPMG’s local offices, as for two years he coordinated the Tax team in Chisinau and, since 2019, he coordinates the Tax team in Cluj-Napoca.

Vlad Crăciun
Vlad joined KPMG in 2007 and became part of the Corporate Tax and M&A team in 2016. He previously led the direct tax compliance practice. From 2021, he took over the technology challenge and, together with part of his team, he built the Tax Reimagined Hub, which became fully operational in May 2021.

‘What I have learned over the years in KPMG is to never be afraid to take on a new challenge and to be persistent in pursuing your goals. That is the reason why I am sure that our Tax Reimagined Hub will enhance our abilities to embrace technology and to transform the client experience with efficiency and agility. So I am making this transformation my number one priority, and I will devote a significant amount of my time and energy to propel our strategy forward’ adds Vlad.

Daniel Jinga - Associate Director
Daniel has been working in KPMG for 10 years and he became the leader of the Global Mobility Services Group in October 2020. He is highly experienced in supporting clients with complex projects in the field of Global Mobility, covering income tax, social security and payroll aspects related to international assignments. Daniel is actively involved in the continuous improvement of GMS processes and keen to embed Technology into the team's day-to-day work. One of Daniel's main aims for the next year is to continue to develop and increase the presence of the GMS practice on the market.

New Directors in Advisory

Anamaria Ciobanu
Anamaria started working with KPMG in 2014, when she joined the Valuation team as a Manager. She holds a PhD in Finance and she has been a Professor of Finance with ASE for 12 years. She was also a member of the ANEVAR Board during the period 2013-2015, as President of the Scientific and Standards Committee. She is always motivated by a desire for innovation, and together with her highly qualified team she has succeeded in increasing our client base and recurrent valuation jobs with key clients operating in sectors such as telecom, investment funding and manufacturing. ‘I am very much aware that a new role brings new responsibilities. I believe in team values and I am grateful to work with such wonderful people, who transform any challenge in a nice adventure’ says Anamaria. Together with the team, she is developing a coherent strategy to offer value-added solutions to our clients in fields such as business and intangibles valuation, business plan modeling, financial feasibility studies, fixed assets management, automated valuation for collaterals, NPLs valuation, and litigation & dispute valuation to name a few.

Cristina Guțu
Cristina is an experienced professional, with extensive experience of more than 18 years in various roles, from auditing and consultancy to organising professional training and being a human resources business partner. She is a fellow ACCA member and a member of the ACCA Global Council. Cristina joined KPMG in 2016 and is the highly successful leader of the KPMG Training Academy.

Cristina is passionate about learning and development and about helping people grow and discover their potential. From 1 October 2021, Cristina will lead the learning and development agenda in KPMG in Romania and Moldova in her role as Learning and Development Director.
“I aim to develop the L&D strategy, bearing in mind both the skills which will be needed in the future and the learning which will help people develop them. My goal is to help create an outstanding people experience and to ensure a relevant, future focused and, why not?, a fun L&D experience for all of us at KPMG”, said Cristina about her new role.

Simona Irinel Radu
Simona has worked for over 18 years in consulting on two continents. Her professional career started as an auditor in Financial Services in New York, right after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baruch College, after which she relocated to Romania and started her career in Forensics. ‘Working in Forensics has provided me not only with the opportunity to grow personally and professionally, but also to deliver change in our clients’ businesses and help them work better’ says Simona. In the period to come, she will be fully dedicated to growing the Forensic Practice of KPMG, to obtain sustainable, profitable growth and to ensure that the Forensic team members have the opportunity to grow alongside the business.
