Romanian listed companies, ready for new requirements?
EU Directive 2017/828 on the encouragement of long-term shareholder engagement (also known as the EU Shareholders’ Rights Directive II or SRD II) was published on 17 May 2017 and had to be transposed into the national legislation of EU Member States by 10 June 2019. SRD II represents a revision of an initial Directive published in 2007 (Directive 2007/36/EC or SRD I) on the exercise of certain rights of shareholders in listed companies and aims to assure the long-term sustainability of EU listed companies, by three means.
