Romania: Amended legislation on medical leave

Amended legislation on medical leave

Law no. 183/2015, approving Government Emergency Ordinance no. 36/2010 on amendments to Government Emergency Ordinance no. 158/2005 on medical leave and allowances, has been published in the Official Journal of Romania.

With effect from 10 July 2015, the Law repeals those provisions of GEO no. 158/2005, which had set out a requirement for beneficiaries of medical leave and allowances to be present at their registered address or residence during the time period they were legally unable to work, so they could be verified by representatives of the institution paying the medical leave allowance (the so-called “medical leave police”).
