Exponential Growth – the new normal or just a dream?

KPMG is pleased to invite you to its first joint Tax, Legal, Advisory and Technology conference.
This combined approach aims to take a new look at topical issues relating to tax, address controversies in legislation, as well as considering the opportunities, trends and challenges that technology can bring for companies in the Romanian business environment.
The event will begin with a presentation by a keynote speaker- Cornel Amariei, Inventor, Author, Entrepreneur and one of the 10 most influential people under 30 in Europe according to Forbes USA.
During the rest of the afternoon, we will take a closer look at Romania’s growing IT industry, with presentations by key business leaders from the sector, and examine whether this is now a good time for Romanian businesses to focus more on expansion to other countries. We will also examine the benefits for companies which implement a company-wide Center of Excellence for Data & Analytics.
The changing face of financial services is a critical topic as disruptive technology presents significant challenges to traditional ways of working, as well as creating a more competitive environment. At the same time, as we take advantage of the opportunity of new technology, we also need to guard against its risks- so the latest issues related to cyber security will be examined. The impact of technology on the workforce will be discussed, especially whether robots will take over some functions in finance and tax.
One of the main hot topics in taxation today is how to manage the VAT challenges related to the digital economy. The relationship between taxpayers and the authorities will also be considered, in particular the lessons learned during 2018, as well as current practice of the authorities during tax inspections. Another key topic will be the increasingly complex area of salary tax for employees, including commercial practices with salary tax implications. Some general macroeconomic issues will also be considered.
For the final session we have invited participants in the KPMG Startup Grow Pad to present their businesses.
