Robotic Process Automation

Robotic Process Automation

What is RPA?

Using RPA tools a company can configure software, or a “robot,” to capture and interpret applications for processing a transaction, manipulating data, triggering responses and communicating with other digital systems.

With RPA, businesses can automate mundane rule-based business processes, enabling business users to devote more time to serving customers or other higher-value work. Others see RPA as a route to intelligent automation (IA) via machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools, which can be trained to make judgments about future outputs.

Enterprises can also supercharge their automation efforts by injecting RPA with cognitive technologies such as ML, speech recognition, and natural language processing, automating higher-order tasks that in the past required the perceptual and judgment capabilities of humans.

What is the benefit of RPA?

Bots are typically low-cost and easy to implement, requiring no custom software or deep systems integration. The benefits of RPA can be many: through automating a manual process; lead times and costs will be decreased, which will enable scaling up especially in markets with skills shortages. Furthermore, automating a tedious process contributes to better employee satisfaction and allows staff to focus on more meaningful tasks. From risk perspective, RPA will limit human exposure to confidential data and reduce human-errors.

What can KPMG offer for clients?

Proof of concept

We can help organisations in different phases of the automation journey. For those in the initial phases our Proof of Concept (POC) service is proven useful, as it educates the organisation on automation opportunities while identifying first processes to be automated. The POC results in a working prototype of a bot. During the project we will workshop with relevant teams and involve them in the design and development. This will increase awareness and buy-in across the organisation. Please contact us to request more information on the POC service

Other services

Performing a POC is just one way to start to learn and demonstrate the benefits of Intelligent Automation. We can also help to establish and implement a full automation programme, including:

  • Raising awareness across the organisation
  • Upskilling teams
  • Mapping and modelling processes
  • Establishing strategy and governance models
  • Addressing Cyber Security risks
  • Helping to build infrastructure
  • Helping to develop and build automation solutions
  • Supporting your developers
  • Supporting project

Our automation case studies

In addition to helping our clients in their automation efforts, we have been actively automating our own business lines through RPA and other digital solutions. Please contact us to find out more about various case studies.
