Leading independent research firm Forrester Research has named KPMG a leader among security consulting service providers, receiving the highest score of any vendor in the strategy category
“Cyber preparedness continues to be one of the most pressing issues that businesses are grappling with,” said Mark A. Goodburn, Global Head of New Business Innovation, KPMG International. “Reputational and brand risk has risen in importance to become one of the top three most important risks named in our latest CEO Outlook*, highlighting they are acutely aware of how transparent the business environment has become.”
Recently the Jersey Financial Services Commission issued a cyber security survey, the output of which suggested that while organisations have adopted a wide range of controls designed to prevent incidents occurring, a significant number appear to be less well prepared to respond to cyber security incidents. Many fall short in relation to developing robust policies and procedures around risk assessments, cyber incident response, disaster recovery and contingency planning.
According to Teijo Peltoniemi, Head of Digital for KPMG in the Channel Islands, “Consistent with other jurisdictions, we are starting to see a huge amount of investment in cyber security issues at an operational level across the Channel Islands – however we are not yet seeing cyber security consistently being given the strategic focus at board level that it really commands. We are currently performing a lot of cyber maturity assessments where we highlight the lack of strategic attention given to security of information, despite it typically being our clients’ most valuable asset.
KPMG in the Channel Islands have a dedicated pan-island team of digital professionals assisting clients with cyber and data privacy services, GDPR assessments, penetration testing and architectural design.
