The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has released today, 19 March 2020, Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 28-2020 dated 18 March 2020, extending the filing and payment deadline for the 2019 Annual Income Tax Return (AITR) from 15 April 2020 to 15 May 2020, without imposition of penalties to taxpayers.

In addition, the BIR has waived the venue requirement and taxpayers may file and pay the corresponding taxes due to any Authorized Agent Banks (AAB) nearest to the location of the taxpayer or to any Revenue Collection Officer under the Revenue District Office (file and pay anywhere).

However, while RMC No. 28-2020 is silent on this, the waiver of the venue requirement will not apply to Electronic Payment and Filing System (EFPS) taxpayers.
