Biolumic chief science officer and Massey professor Jason Wargent have been working on using ultraviolet lights to treat plants for improved yield, growth and protection from disease. The project has madeMr Wargent a finalist in the KiwiNet research commercialisation awards. “It's like the holy grail of agriculture. You get yield increase and disease protection without chemicals and without a reliance on GM [genetic modification],” said Mr Wargent.
