Students at Auckland's Mt Albert Grammar School have the chance to get hands-on farm experience, at the city schools 8.1 hectare farm by studying agriculture, horticulture and agri-business. Students have reported that learning on the farm is very valuable at developing a range of their skills. The farm was established in 1932, and since then ASB has loaned the land to the school for $1 for the term of 99 years. In 2019, 260 students in years 10-13 are studying agricultural and horticultural science which helps to connect the students with opportunities in both the agri-food and fibre sectors. There are plans underway to produce an experience centre which will aim to be a central hub for agri-business in Auckland.
