KPMG hosted the Board and Management of Manukau Institute of Technology last night in recognition of their four year transformation. As an organisation MIT have a vital role in New Zealand’s prosperity by getting learners into great jobs with a focus on areas of great demand such as trades and engineering.
In 2013 the collapse of Mainzeal was a significant stumbling block for the organisation (a surprise debt of $40m). Since then MIT have been engaged in a constant cycle of restructure and optimisation, which they have done without any support from Central Government. MIT are now in a new phase of focusing on investment in the future for the 14,400 learners. The new phase is ambitious focusing on strong financial and leadership platforms. The Manukau TechPark development is the next project and signals the reigniting of this very important South Auckland education organisation. Here at KPMG we have immense respect for the team behind the transformation and their ambition for the next phase.
