2020 financial results so far showed that Dutch banks proved to be resilient against losses stemming from financial market volatility, from increased risk costs, as well as increased operational costs. Although these are promising indicators of resilience, the full macro-economic impact of COVID-19 is yet to come, as is the full impact of COVID-19 on banks’ balance sheets.
In this document, we focus on the implications of these developments on loan origination and management practices for Dutch banks. We present a number considerations for our clients that will help them to define and support the way forward once the worst shock has passed.
