Global BLC webinar | Building back better: A board's-eye view

Monday 28th June, 17:00-18:00 (UTC+1)

Monday 28th June, 17:00-18:00 (UTC+1)

For more than a year, businesses and society have faced extraordinary challenges. In addition to its impact on lives and livelihoods, COVID-19 has highlighted social injustice and heightened stakeholder expectations of companies in the corporate responsibility space. Boards and executive teams are being tested from every direction, whether withstanding the difficulties of an economy under strain, to developing a strategy for recovery; to supporting their employees and broader communities through testing times. It’s quite a balancing act and one that few had rehearsed. We’ve all had to adapt to doing things differently.

Our Board Leadership Centres across the globe have also embraced new ways of connecting with the global director community, and we’re delighted to be able to invite you to our first global webinar, 'Building back better'.

For our first two sessions we are thrilled to welcome Paul Polman as our key-note speaker. Former Unilever CEO, Paul is the Co-founder and Chair of IMAGINE, a new organisation which mobilises business leaders around tackling climate change and global inequality. Paul is perfectly placed to address corporate purpose and the role of business in furthering social progress in a post pandemic world - whether that be the climate crisis or widening inequality - and help us consider how the needs of different stakeholders should be balanced. Paul will also be taking part in a panel discussion with our other distinguished guests as detailed below.

Chair: Bill Thomas – Global Chairman & CEO, KPMG International

Speaker & panel member: Paul Polman (Co-founder and Chair of IMAGINE)

Panel members: From Brazil, João Brega (Whirlpool Corporation and São Martinho SA); and from the USA, Blythe McGarvie (LKQ Corporation Inc, Apple Hospitality REIT Inc, Sonoco Products Co and Wawa Inc).

We do hope that you may be able to join this session which promise to be highly engaging and stimulating discussions. Should you have any questions or wish to refer a colleague to us, please contact us at and we will be delighted to assist.

Best wishes,
