There are reports of a ransomware campaign currently ongoing against businesses around the world with high profile targets in countries such as Russia, Spain and UK. As at date, the number of affected countries has rapidly increased to over 150 and still on the rise.
At the moment it is believed the main delivery mechanism is via email which contain a weaponized document which attempts to exploit a vulnerability in Windows Operating System.
After successful execution, the malicious program will encrypt all files on the victim’s system and potentially connected network shares.
