Akinwale is a Tax Partner in the Tax, Regulatory and People Services Division of KPMG Advisory Services in Nigeria. He has vast international tax experience and in-depth knowledge of all tax laws in Nigeria. He has extensive experience in advising clients on various cross-border tax issues, Double Tax Treaty provisions and benefits, taxation of the digital economy, business  restructuring for tax-efficiency and Local Content compliance, personal income tax and corporate tax planning, contract review and structuring, tax due diligence, audits, queries and reviews, withholding tax management and planning, and Free Trade Zone registration.

Akinwale has led various teams to provide tax advisory, compliance, modelling, and due diligence services to local and multinational companies in disparate industries. He is recognised as a thought leader on issues relating to the taxation of companies operating in the Information and Communications Technology, Shipping, Aviation, Manufacturing, and Construction sectors. He has advised several Fortune 100 companies on issues relating to the taxation of the digital economy in Nigeria.

Akinwale has facilitated several tax training programmes attended by participants from more than 150 companies. He has also authored articles on burning tax issues and spoken on tax matters on TV and at various tax forums. He was a speaker at an African Tax Administration Forum Tax Compliance Workshop that was attended by over 300 delegates from 40 African countries.

Akinwale is passionate about leveraging his tax expertise as a tool for transforming Nigeria into a globally competitive and investor-friendly economy. He was a member of the team that worked on an Omnibus Bill intended to reform several obsolete Nigerian tax law provisions. He has also served as a resource person to the Nigerian Economic Summit Group’s Trade, Investment Climate and Competitiveness Policy Commission, and in that role, participated in engagements and research efforts geared towards improving the global competitiveness of Nigeria’s trade and fiscal framework.
