One of the world’s largest ice cream chains has collected an abundance of data courtesy of various sales and promotional activities over the years. But with great data also comes great responsibility, as the beloved household name had no way of extracting or easily viewing the data. Hence, critical decisions were made without the management’s ability to have strategic oversight of valuable data.

KPMG delivers

Leveraging on core data analytics skillset and the intelligent use of technology, KPMG in Malaysia developed an easy-to-use, interactive and cost-effective platform for the client.

  • Using Microsoft’s Power BI (Business Intelligence) technology, KPMG’s Data & Analytics professionals created interactive dashboards to capture and report their sales and promotional data, extracted from the company’s Point-of-Sales (POS) system.
  • As value-added services, the team also assisted the client to fix some data quality issues from the sales data in their database.
  • The dashboard refreshes the data daily during the night, resulting in an updated data set every morning.
  • Post-handover support services were also extended to the client so that they could continue to independently utilize the dashboard.

Real Results

The client is now able to turn their volumes of data into valuable insights, all readily available on a single platform. Insights from the dashboard enable the client’s management team to make data-driven decisions on their marketing and promotional strategy across different outlets. The positive impact to the company’s sales performance was clearly seen within a short timeframe.
