GRF's book “i rise”, partly sponsored by KPMG, was launched on Wednesday 8 July 2020. SmartCanes were also donated on the occasion.
The Global Rainbow Foundation’s book “i rise”, partly sponsored by KPMG as part of its CSR initiatives, was launched on Wednesday 8 July 2020. On the occasion, KPMG also donated 10 SmartCaneTM devices to people who are visually impaired.
KPMG has been collaborating with the NGO Global Rainbow Foundation by supporting the donation of SmartCaneTM devices since 2015.
The SmartCaneTM device is an electronic travel aid which fits as handle of the white cane. As white cane can only detect obstacles up to knee height, Smart CaneTM compliments its functionality by detecting obstacles from knee to head height. It detects obstacles using sonic waves and the presence of obstacles is conveyed through intuitive vibratory patterns.
i rise is a compilation of the life stories of the 20 selected Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). It is a premiere book which aims at giving the visibility, space and voice for these people whose lives and stories are enriching, inspiring and replete with positive energies.
i rise is also accessible on BookshareTM for visually impaired readers.
