Appointment of two Partners and three Directors

With effect from 1 January 2015, KPMG has appointed David Pace and Doreen Fenech as Partners and Jonathan Dingli, John Ellul Sullivan and Paul Pace Ross as Directors. This reflects the continued growth that the firm has achieved in 2014 and which is expected to be sustained in the coming years.

David Pace 

David joined KPMG in 2002 and has worked on numerous advisory assignments, both locally and overseas. Throughout his career he has assisted clients in successfully raising debt and equity finance and in valuing shares and businesses. He is actively involved in numerous business negotiations and has a lead role in the firm’s Merger and Acquisition service offering. He has also participated on vendor and buy-side due diligence assignments for which he has worked within the local and foreign practices of KPMG. His engagement portfolio has led him to work at the heart of strategy within a number of businesses, helping them throughout the process of considering strategic options, articulation of plans and their subsequent implementation and monitoring. David has provided various training sessions on corporate finance, accounting and business related topics to clients and at public seminars. He holds an Executive MBA from ENPC School of International Management, Paris with the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons.) from the University of Malta. He is a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants and holds a CPA warrant. David is the current Chairman of Junior Achievement (Young Enterprise) Malta Foundation and a past president of JCI Malta. 

Doreen Fenech 

Doreen joined KPMG’s audit function in 1995 after completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree with the University of Malta. In1998 she transferred to the tax function and has been instrumental in the growth of the tax practice over the years. Doreen has extensive experience in advising local business on group restructuring, financing, real estate transactions, as well as incentive legislation. For the last two years, Doreen has headed the private client function within the tax department, advising numerous expatriates and high net worth individuals taking up residence in Malta on their personal and corporate tax affairs as well as advising multinationals on the taxation of their employees working in Malta. Doreen regularly delivers tax presentations and training both internally and externally. She is a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants and holds a CPA warrant. 

Jonathan Dingli 

Jonathan re-joined the firm as an Associate Director early in 2012 specifically to spearhead the Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) Unit at KPMG in Malta.Qualified B. Accty (Hons) with first class honours from the University of Malta in 2002, Jonathan worked as an audit senior at KPMG for a period of three years, until he left in 2005 to set up the Malta Institute of Accountants’ Technical Department, which he led for seven years until January 2012 when he re-joined KPMG.Throughout his career he has gained significant experience in assisting local and international clients operating in several industries on the adoption and application of IFRS and on various related complex matters. He has extensive experience on consolidation issues, having assisted a number of large multi-national groups in the adoption of IFRS and the preparation of IFRS consolidated financial statements. Jonathan has provided various training sessions on IFRS to the firm’s clients and alumni as well as at public events. He has lectured on IFRS to students in their final years of studies in the ACCA or University qualifications since 2008. He is currently a part-time assistant lecturer at the University of Malta and is reading for a doctorate in financial accounting at Loughborough University in the UK.He is a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants and holds a CPA warrant. 

John Ellul Sullivan 

John has been appointed as a Director in KPMG’s tax function with effect from 1 January 2015. John joined KPMG in 2007, after graduating as a Doctor of Laws, and has completed an Advanced Masters in International Taxation at the International Tax Centre, University of Leiden. John advises a variety of multinationals and high net worth individuals on their international corporate structures, as well as focuses on advising retirement scheme administrators on their operations in Malta.John provides in-house training on soft skills and technical matters, both in Malta and for the KPMG network at large. He is a lecturer at the Malta Institute of Taxation’s Tax Diploma and is a speaker at various seminars. He is member of the Education Sub-Committee of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners.

Paul Pace Ross 

Paul is a Certified Public Accountant specialising in international corporate tax. He joined KPMG in 2002 after completing the B. Accty (Hons) degree at the University of Malta. Paul also holds a Masters in Financial Services from the University of Malta. After a span of two years in Accounting Support Services, Paul moved to Tax Services and over the years lead numerous cross border engagements. He now leads a multi-disciplinary team of professionals advising clients on the tax implications of corporate restructuring, mergers, continuations, exit strategies and other reorganisation projects. He is also a senior member of the corporate services team which provides   compliance services including income tax, company law compliance and payroll services.  Besides presenting at several local tax related seminars, Paul has delivered presentations about Malta’s competitiveness in several European countries.
