Role & Responsibilities

  • Full scope assistance to clients on various labour law matters ranging from ordinary day-to-day matters to more complicated matters involving employment termination, disputes and litigation
  • Drafting of HR documents, such as employment contracts, agreements on termination of employment, termination notice, employer’s orders, work procedure regulations, as well as other internal policies and documents related to employment
  • Handling of labour law cases, including employment termination, breach of contract, potential discrimination, wage and hour matters, etc, as well as client representation in the State Labour Inspectorate and / or court
  • Be an integral member of the M&A team advising on labour law implications in large, global transactions for both the buyer and seller, including provision of HR DD
  • Representation of clients in a wide scope of immigration law matters requiring individual approach. Including consulting on legal requirements for employment of foreign nationals, obtaining of residence and work permits, preparing of relevant documentation; representing before state authorities; assistance with Posting of Workers requirements, etc.
  • Keeping up to date with latest changes in labour, immigration and human rights laws and regulations, and handle and support matters related to these laws
  • Working with experienced colleagues and cooperate with colleagues from the KPMG Global network
  • Supporting more senior colleagues in finding practical, pragmatic and creative solutions to labour and immigration issues of clients and bring a broader perspective to the client
  • Monitoring, advising, drafting and negotiating agreements/clauses, including revision of such for compliance with Labour Law and Immigration Law, provision of legal opinions

Can you say YES to this?

Education and experience

  • You have a Master’s degree in law and a lawyer’s professional qualification
  • You have experience of at least 4 years in law or a related industry

Technical skills

  • You possess knowledge of labour, immigration and human rights laws
  • You have experience working with litigation, negotiation and human rights matters
  • You have a good command of MS Tools (Excel, Word, Power point)
  • You are fluent in Latvian and English, both written and spoken
