Three years of Fintech Awards

Launched in 2016, the annual Luxembourg Fintech Awards are organized by KPMG Luxembourg and the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT), in collaboration with Digital Luxembourg, the Luxembourg ICT Cluster, Luxinnovation, Maison Moderne, and 2018 Gold Sponsor, State Street.

From insurtech to regtech, many innovative companies have competed in the awards, which has become an unmissable fintech event in Luxembourg. More specifically, over 500 have registered since the first edition in 2016.

The premise of the Fintech Awards Luxembourg has always been simple: to bring new talent to the country and celebrate emerging talent. The first prize, therefore, is a €50,000 start-up money to help the winning company grow in Luxembourg. In addition to this, a membership to the LHoFT as well as KPMG consulting hours can provide what is needed for an innovative company to make a great start in a strong financial hub.

Pierre Gramegna, Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance, highlighted during the 2018 award ceremony how integral the Awards are in the success of a wider government commitment to fintech in Luxembourg:
“The Fintech Awards are special to me,” said Mr. Gramegna, “because the very fact that this is the third edition shows that the initiative the government took five years ago to push fintech is paying off, and that many companies from all over the world are ready to come to Luxembourg.” Speaking about setting up operations in Luxembourg, he added that “startups have access to the right infrastructure and the right people to talk to, and benefit from an openness to world trade."
