Mastering the rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
After more than four years of discussions and negotiations, an agreement on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was reached under Luxembourg’s Presidency of the European Union Council at the end of 2015. It was formally adopted at the beginning of the year. This new legislation marks the most impactful change in privacy and data protection regulation of recent decades, and will affect organisations worldwide. The GDPR requires fundamental changes to how organisations approach data protection.
The regulation was formally adopted by the European Parliament and Council at the beginning of 2016, with the new rules to become applicable two years thereafter. This means that from early 2018 onwards your organisation needs to be in full compliance with the new rules of the GDPR. Since certain provisions of the GDPR will require substantial changes in your organisation, the time to act is now!
