Dear readers,

On 30 November 2021 the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has adopted number of restrictions in order to prevent the import of a new variant of coronavirus infection «Omicron»1:

  1. All visitors to Kazakhstan when crossing the state border must submit a certificate with a negative result of the COVID-19 test using the PCR method with no more than three days from the date of issue of the result. Exceptions include children under five years of age, provided that their accompanying persons have a certificate; government delegation of Kazakhstan; airline crews; individuals who have received a full course of vaccination against coronavirus in Kazakhstan;
  2. The citizens arrived from the following countries: Israel, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, the UK, Italy, Germany, Australia, Canada, Belgium and Egypt, are required to submit a certificate with a negative result of the COVID-19 test using the PCR method, taken not earlier than 72 hours at the time of crossing the Kazakhstan state border, regardless of whether there is a full course of vaccination against coronavirus. Exceptions include children under five years of age, provided that their accompanying persons have a certificate; government delegation of Kazakhstan; airline crews; individuals who have received a full course of vaccination against coronavirus in Kazakhstan;
  3. Citizens who have arrived and visited the above-mentioned countries within the last 14 days are required to be isolated at home (home quarantine) for 7 (seven) days, regardless of the existence of a certificate with a negative PCR test and vaccination. Medical supervision is established.
  4. All persons arriving to Kazakhstan by air from abroad (except for Kazakhstan's government delegation; airline crews), undergo thermal metrics, surveys and are obligated to submit a certificate on the completion of the COVID-19 test using the PCR method, from the date of issue of which not more than 3 days have passed at the time of crossing the state border of Kazakhstan.

The restrictions came into effect on December 3, 2021.
