Business events at KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia in November

In the second half of November, KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia held a number of client events.

KPMG conferences in Shymkent, Aktobe, Atyrau and Aktau discussed new approaches in the updated Kazakh Tax Code draft, including tax administration, taxation of subsurface users, financial, real estate, and agribusiness companies, and changes related to investment projects and taxation in special economic zones. The events were held by Tax & Legal professionals: Director Tatyana Rogachyova, Senior Manager Tatiana Gorbacheva, and Manager Assem Shayakhmetova.

On 20 November KPMG held its first event in Tashkent: a business breakfast on IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers. The business breakfast was attended by specialists, CFOs, managers and chief accountants from over 40 large and medium-sized companies in Tashkent. The participants learnt about the new revenue recognition model, the specifics of IFRS 15 implementation, and ways to adopt the new standard. The seminar guests were welcomed by Audit Director at KPMG in Uzbekistan Sanjarbek Saidov. The business programme was conducted by Management Consulting professionals from KPMG in Kazakhstan an Central Asia: Head of Accounting & Reporting Services Almira Shakiyeva, and Manager Madina Maikibayeva.

The issues of arbitral decisions reversal in Kazakhstan were discussed on 22 November at the business breakfast in Almaty, moderated by Secretary General of the Center for arbitration and arbitration proceedings of NCE RK "Atameken" Askar Kaldybaev and KPMG Tax & Legal Senior Managers Askhad Koshkarbayev and Altynshash Zhussipova. The event focused on the cases of arbitral decisions reversal, their legitimacy, and arbitration advantages in terms of risks.

On the same day, the Almaty office was the venue for EUROBAK Committee tax meeting to discuss BEPS in Kazakhstan, transfer pricing, and relevant legal practice. KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia was represented by Head of Tax & Legal Rustem Sadykov and Director Vyacheslav Sosnovskiy. On 23 November, Rustem Sadykov and Vyacheslav Sosnovkiy also held a meeting with local financial companies to discuss the topical subject of transfer pricing in the sector, trusted sources of information, and practical cases of TP implementation.

In addition, the IFRS Updates in the region continue: on 28 November, Audit Partners Yelena Kim and Mikhail Stepanov held Updates for financial and non-financial organisations in Bishkek.
