Aswathy is in charge of Indirect Taxes and has over 12 years of Indirect Tax advisory, compliance and litigation support experience. She joined the Kuwait Tax practice in 2016 and has been actively supporting clients across sectors and in the region to be VAT and Excise Tax ready.
As an Indirect Tax practitioner with over 12 years of experience, she has led teams in providing clients in Kuwait and in the region with VAT & Excise GAP analysis, implementation support, advisory and compliance assistance.
She has advised non-residents and foreign companies on doing business in Kuwait pre & post VAT implementation. She has strong technical knowledge of Indirect Taxes including customs duties existing in the GCC region and India.
In her career span, Aswathy has advised and assisted numerous multinational clients across sectors with their Indirect Tax needs. Her experience also involves providing structuring advices to mitigate indirect tax cost considering commercial viability / feasibility
Aswathy assist clients in complying with their statutory indirect compliances i.e. registration, returns, invoicing and processes.
A lawyer and member of the Bar Council of India, Aswathy has provided litigation support to clients in India and is adept at liaising with Government regulators / officials.
She was involved in assisting one of the largest privately owned Kuwaiti company and a multibillion-dollar conglomerate with more than 30 businesses across the region to be GCC VAT ready.
Extensive experience in training Business & Professional Councils on GCC VAT in Kuwait. Prior to joining KPMG Kuwait, she worked with other Big Fours in India in their Indirect Tax practice.
Her clients include Financial, Retail, Real Estate, ITES, Telecom, Consumer Goods, Government run organizations and Automobile sectors.
