Robert is a Senior Tax Manager at KPMG East Africa based in Nairobi. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree, Diploma from Kenya School of Law (Dip. KSL) and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya. He is also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Robert has over 9 years post qualification experience in accounting/tax and legal fields. He has extensive experience in the provision of general and specialized tax compliance and health check reviews including corporate taxation, personal taxation, customs and excise, and VAT planning.
He has also been involved in offering strategic tax planning and tax advisory services in mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations, transfer pricing, investor tax advisory and due diligence reviews, computation of corporate and business tax liabilities, tax training, employee compensation structuring, corporation tax, WHT, personal tax and VAT reviews, and VAT refund audits and certification.
He has also been involved in lobbying the Treasury for changes in tax legislation and in representing clients in tax appeal processes. He has been the lead advisor in various projects involving the review of various agreements between Kenyan and non-resident entities, to ensure that they are tax-efficient.
Robert has also been extensively involved in advising clients in Ethiopia, South Sudan and Somalia on tax matters.
Robert is also a KPMG Accredited Trainer and has been involved in numerous trainings and public speaking engagements including training Rwanda Revenue Authority and Kenya Revenue Authority on emerging international tax issues including transfer pricing and Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS)
