George Waigi is a KPMG Senior Manager, on SME and Youth Employment in the International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) in Africa, based in Kenya. He has 25 years’ experience in SME Development]. He has led and carried out specialist consultancy assignments in five countries and has consulted for the United Nations in East Timor, DANIDA and ILO in Kenya, with the USAID in Uganda and for the World Bank in Somalia. He has previously worked with the Government of Kenya in industrial development. George has Over 25 years of Project Management experience working with Government, the UN and World Bank in SME and Enterprise Development projects with experience gained in Asia, Africa and especially in post conflict regions. Over five years developing and implementing a national project for job creation of young people in East Africa funded by DANIDA. George has developed capacities in entrepreneurship promotion and facilitation. BDS Facilitation; Market System development and Value Chain Analysis. He has been involved in developing mentoring programs for Small Business, is an accredited Business Trainer and has vast experience in Business Plan competition design and implementation.
George has served as a Team Leader of the Somali Small and Medium Enterprise Facility (SMEF). A WOLD Bank Project Implemented by BDO LLP in the Somali Peninsula. , as a Country Head for a DANIDA sponsored ILO Youth Enterprise Facility, as an Adviser to the Government of Timor-Leste on SME Development and as an Industrial development expert with the Government of Kenya. George Hold a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering and an MBA in Business and leadership.
