Ashini Patel is a KPMG Senior Manager in the International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) in Africa, based in Kenya. She has over 12 years of experience across Africa including Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mauritius, Zambia and South Africa in project management, due diligence, strategic and process risk assessments, enterprise risk management, and risk based internal audit for a wide range of clientele. Her experience covers numerous industries including the public sector, consumer and industrial markets, financial services, oil and gas, and media. Ashini is also a KPMG accredited facilitator and has conducted various training sessions including value for money, risk based internal audit, and supply chain cycle. She works with and leads diverse, multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high quality services by fostering a culture of teamwork and common purpose.
Ashini is currently the manager in charge of providing trustee services to the Financial Sector Deepening Trust Kenya. This involves providing fiduciary and operational oversight, administration and management of the trust fund, and reviewing processes such as finance, HR, procurement, policies and procedures, IT, and project management.
Previously, Ashini served as the Chief Operating Officer for KPMG Advisory Services where she coordinated activities across 10 business units in 5 East African countries to ensure maximum efficiencies were achieved. She was the project lead manager for a PEPFAR project that carried out a Performance Assessment of Kenya’s public sector HIV commodity supply chain. The project involved: reviewing the supply chain processes including financial and internal systems across central agencies (PEPFAR, USAID, CDC, KEMSA, NASCOP, Kenya Pharma and SCMS); and determining the internal controls strength of 300 supply chain locations across Kenya. Ashini was the internal audit manager for TradeMark East Africa and provided outsourced internal audit, fiduciary risk assessment and due diligence services to over 50 grantees including ministries, PSOs, CSOs and the private sector. For Coca Cola Central, East and West Africa (CCCEWA) and Coca Cola Juices, Ashini was the manager in charge of proving internal audit services, and process and policy improvement services. She also spearheaded the design and implementation of a control self-assessment at CCCEWA. As an internal audit manager and senior, she has provided a number of internal audit and risk management services to clients in the international development sector such as UNHABITAT, National Environment Trust Fund, Hand in Hand, SightSavers International, Ford Foundation, FIFA, Ministry of Finance (Zambia), African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) and African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF).
Ashini holds a BSc in Biochemistry and Management, and an MSc in Management and Internal Audit with first class honours. She is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP) from the Institute of Internal Auditors, and a Prince2 Practitioner.
