Koichi Baba

After graduating from Waseda University, he joined a think tank-based consulting firm in 1989, where he worked for more than 30 years in the consulting business. In 2012, he became a managing director of a Korean conglomerate, where he managed global companies at the Seoul headquarters. After returning to Japan in 2014, he worked for a think tank-based consulting firm before joining KPMG Consulting in 2020. He has been involved in many management reforms, strategy formulation, business development, operational reforms, M&A, and alliance support for companies in the social infrastructure domain including real estate, construction, housing, and urban development in the 1990s; railroads and logistics in the 2000s; and energy in the 2010s. At KPMG, he is in charge of the infrastructure industry (roads, railroads, airlines/airports, shipping), and leads strategic consulting, business structure reform, business model reform, DX, and business development for domestic and overseas social infrastructure-related companies. He launched a smart city team in the fall of 2020, leading the promotion of local government smart cities and support for the commercialization of related companies. Also serves as a member of the KPMG Mobility Research Institute. Qualifications: Professional Engineer (Civil Engineering, Urban & Regional Planning)
