The new standard on leases, International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) 16, Leases is applicable from 1 January 2019. IFRS 16 represents a fundamental shift in accounting for leases, specifically for lessees.
Recently, Financier Worldwide1 moderated a discussion on IFRS 16 between four experts of the Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) of the KPMG global network (Markus Kreher, Global Head of AAS, KPMG International; Sai Venkateshwaran, KPMG in India; Michelle Gibbs, KPMG in Australia; and Ruben Rog, KPMG in the Netherlands).
The panel discussed the challenges that companies are facing in order to be IFRS 16 compliant and the steps they should take to mitigate the disruption caused by the new standard.
The insights of the discussion have been published in the form of an article in the June 2018 edition of Financier Worldwide.
