Direct selling: Kerala is a state-focused report which highlights the potential that the direct selling industry has in Kerala, the challenges it faces, and actionable recommendations at the state level to overcome these challenges.
The direct selling market in Kerala was estimated to be close to INR 700-750 million in 2014 and is expected to reach about INR 18-20 billion by 2025. The report recommends the immediate need to formulate sector specific rules/guidelines and standard operating procedures for law enforcement agencies, followed by an amendment in the governing legislation and
a clear definition of direct selling, giving it a dedicated industry status, as
well as enactment of Draft Kerala MLM Bill, 2013 and recognition of the
Ministry of Consumer Affairs as a nodal ministry for the industry thereafter.
