His role looks at increasing the practice coverage around clients, sectors and corridors. He also has responsibility for working with the leadership in formulating and implementing strategy for the tax practice. He was the overall lead for setting up KPMG in India’s CoE, where he led creation of a 500 seater facility and led the transition of processes to the CoE. Ajay has oversight on our Tax Technology and Skill Development agenda. Ajay is a member of the KPMG in India’s Board.
Ajay has spent close to a decade in the Direct Tax practice and an equal amount of time in the Indirect Tax Practice of the top professional services firms (Andersen, EY and BMR). This has given him a unique insight into tax and business issues faced by large corporates on a holistic basis. He has worked with some of the leading businesses in India and overseas, dealing with complex tax and business issues.
Professional and Industry Experience
Prior to starting with the firm in 2016, Ajay led the Mumbai indirect tax practice at BMR & Associates (a boutique tax services firm) where Ajay was a co-founding Partner. Ajay is ranked amongst leading indirect tax advisors in ITR's Indirect Tax Leaders Guide and other independent surveys.
